Expected Dividend Increases in August 2017

What dividend investor doesn’t love receiving a dividend increase from one of their holdings?  No hands are raised….exactly what I expected.   Lanny and I are constantly monitoring our portfolios to make sure we measure the impact of a dividend increase the day the company makes their announcement.  We love instant results!  So each month, we take summarize a listing of Dividend Aristocrats (and a handful of non-Aristocrats) that are set to increase their dividend in the coming month to share our excitement with the community.   Now it is time to dive in and see which companies are expected to increase their dividend in August!

Lanny’s August Dividend Stock Watch List

It’s that time of the month, where I have my calculator, the pen & pencil & I start analyzing what I love most, dividend stocks, and to see which companies have a chance to be on my watch list.  I like to come out with the watch list towards the end of the month, as I line up my capital troops to see where they may be deployed.  I did not make any investment stock purchases in July, yet, and the capital lineup is getting bigger.

Bert’s Q2 2017 Goals Review

I’m starting to see a trend with the second quarter of each year for me…it is ridiculously busy.  In 2016, my wife and I had our wedding.  In 2017, we attended a few weddings, purchased a “new” used car, and oh yeah, we purchased our first home!  Life truly comes at you fast, and that was a statement that I never truly appreciated until recently.  So much can change in the blink of an eye, it makes you realize that you have to make sure you enjoy as much of it as possible before it is too late.    With the second quarter in the rear view mirror, Lanny and I take some time to assess our progress towards knocking out the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year.  Here is my Q2 2017 Goals review!

How Traveling for Work Led to an Unexpected Housing Expense

I feel like I am just stuck in a rut right now.   A lot of exciting things are going on at the moment, and I know that I should be enjoying them.  We finally closed on our house and the title is in our name.  The thought of home-ownership was at one point a dream and now it is a reality.   Now the projects begin.  We have an apartment to pack, wallpaper to tear down, walls to pain, hardwood floors to re-finish, and other projects that will emerge at the blink of an eye.   This should be fun; this should be exciting.  But something feels off right now as I write this article from my hotel room.  After sitting at the same looking desk that I have sat at so many times at every Hampton Inn in “you name it” city, it finally it me.  The reason I am feeling off right now is not because of the volume of work that has to be done on my house, but rather, the fact that I will be traveling a lot for work over the next few months  is having negative impact on my ability to complete these projects and even worse, my savings account.

Lanny’s Q2 2017 Goals Update

The first six months definitely have been fun, interesting, lessons have been learned, passions explored and a renewed focus has developed.  I cannot wait to look at the half of the year coming up, sort of in a “the glass is half full” kind of way.  Learning more about yourself/oneself in a much more rapid pace, but still focusing on the areas that make me happy, as well as the true goal of financial independence.  This quarter marks another quarter closer to these goals and I’m excited to talk about what progress was made.
