We are coming off of a pretty active month in February. I have been tracking Dividend Aristocrats that are expected to announce a dividend increase each month since May 2014, and February set a record as 8 companies were expected to announce an increase. While March won’t pack the same punch with announced increases, it is the most active month in the quarter for receiving dividends! Time to dive into the details, which Aristocrats are expected to announce dividend increases in March?
We are already halfway through February and it has been a very fast month for us. Time is flying by and the market is rapidly evolving as a lot of new data has become available over the last week. It is time to update our February watch list to reflect the changes in the market. Lanny gave our watch list a new look this month, so we are excited to unveil our changes. Let’s see which companies we have our eye on!
It is Valentine’s Day and here I am wondering/thinking – wow, it’s been almost two weeks since I have made a stock purchase. My last purchase was another small investment using a free trade credit into IBM and it was a small – $547.00 investment at that. It hasn’t been a full two weeks, looking back, as the trade happened on February 3rd (I didn’t write about it, it was very minimal to my eyes) but when you are used to making almost weekly purchases, the dividend growth investor anxiety kicks in.
Looks like I have a little capital from my recent ARCP sale to deploy, so I wanted to take this opportunity to research a potential investment for the excess capital. For me, it was a no-brainer figuring out which stock I was going to analyze. Tobacco has a relatively low weight in my portfolio even though the power companies in the industry offer a very attractive yields. With stock prices falling lately, it seemed like a great time to assess my only tobacco holding, Philip Morris (“PM”), to determine if I should re-up my position.
I think I have said this in every article I have written this year….I can’t believe how fast time is flying. We are through one month of 2015 already. It seems like yesterday I was just writing a post about my goals for 2015. One of the most challenging goals was to defeat the Dividend Diplomats’ Savings Challenge 6 times this year! Did I move one step closer to accomplishing this goal after January came to a close? Let’s find out! Continue reading
This month I wanted to make sure I had a timely article to reflect the income & expense summary, as December’s wasn’t posted until almost the end of January! Another month has passed, another month where I ask myself… Did I hit the 60% savings goal with my income and expense tracker? Did I hit the big mark that I set for myself back in August 2014 when I was discussing why I am aiming to save 60% of my income? Let’s dive into the income and expense analysis. Continue reading
One month down, eleven more to go in 2015! Man does time fly. January has been quite the active month for me, as I have been slowly (but surely) adding dividend income to my portfolio through a series of small purchases. While this won’t impact January’s income, I am setting the table for the remaining eleven months of the year. After having a lot of activity in 2014, I am expecting to start the year off on the right foot and have a solid dividend month. Let’s dive into the results and see how I performed in January.
