Lanny said it best, the post election stock market has been crazy. A lot of industries that have been trading at a discount, financials and REITs for example, have soared while other stocks that have traded at highs over the years are approaching buy-able levels again. Recently, I was able to knock out one of my 2016 investing goals by crossing $3,250 in projected dividend income; now, I have another goal in sight….investing at least $20,000 in “New Capital” into the market. I’m ready to keep the pedal to the metal and take advantage of some more opportunities that Mr. Market has presented us. Time to check out my November Dividend Stock Watch List!
November 2012 marked a big change in my life . During that month, I lost my “dumb phone” on a flight to St. Louis (still haven’t figured out how I managed to do that) and upgraded to my first smartphone. For the longest time, I fought off the smartphone craze, saying things like “I don’t need it,” “I can live just fine without having the internet at my fingertips,” and “I don’t want to be one of those people addicted to their phones.” Well, after I left the airport and realized I didn’t have my phone in my pocket, that change I had been fighting for so long was forced upon me. Fast forward to summer 2016 and I was forced back into the “dark ages” for a week….I had to turn my data off! The good news here is that I am still alive to tell you all about it and I learned a lot about our addiction to data during these “troubling” times. I wanted to share this experience with you all, but please note the references to “struggling” or “tough times” or any other dramatic phrase have a major sarcastic undertone to it!
About a month ago we published our first formal Watch List. A lot has changed over the last month. We have received a ton of dividends, the S&P 500 has increased another .5%, Alibaba began trading, and McDonalds announced a 5% dividend increase! With September nearly in the rear-view mirror, it is time to update our watch list for the end of September and first half of October.
Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by. It has been 45 days since Bert posted his 10 stocks on his watch list and it is now time to update this list, as well as incorporating the full Diplomat team (Lanny!) into the mix, as we all have stocks on the watch list. It’s been a wild 45 days and based on different purchases made over that stretch and allocation/weights in our portfolios, it is time to adjust and discuss which stocks are on our August watch list, RIGHT NOW!
