Bert’s 3rd Quarter Goals Review

We are rounding third and heading home here.  Considering the Cleveland Indians clinched the AL Central Division title this week, I figured a baseball reference to start the article off was pretty appropriate.  Let’s see if they can capture some of the same postseason magic the Cavs had during their run in May/June.   At the end of each quarter, Lanny and I review our annual goals to monitor our progress towards hitting these marks.  If we are on pace…great.  If we are off track, well there is still time to make some adjustments despite the fact there are only three months remaining.  Time to dig and perform my third quarter goals review.

Bert’s Q2 2016 Goals Review

I know I said it in my June Dividend income article as well. But still….HOLY COW, I can’t believe the year is halfway over.  This quarter will always hold a special place in my heart though considering I got married in May.  Can’t believe that was a month ago too. WOW!  After the quarter is over, we like to take some time here and check up on our 2016 goals to check our progress and see if we need to make any necessary adjustments on the fly.   With six months remaining, there is still plenty of time to steer ourselves back onto the road if we have started wandering off.

Bert’s May 2016 Dividend Income Summary

May 2016 was  the best month of my life…hands down.   And it had absolutely nothing to do with investing.   I’m sure those that have been following along can guess what happened.  If not, no worries, I will have some blog posts soon to fill you all in on what exactly happened soon.  It was also a great month for dividend income as I saw some growth compared to May 2015.  Let’s take a look at the dividend income I received during the last 31 days!  Here is my May 2016 Dividend Income summary!

3 Ways to Simplify My Finances

Life is short, we all know that.  Over time, small tweaks to financial habits can build up into a bureaucratic nightmare.  That’s what I think happened to me and it caused an unnecessary burden.  At the time of my decision, I’m sure getting that bank bonus was a great idea.  I’m sure opening this new cash back credit card that is slightly different than my hotel points credit card appealed to me for some reason.  There is nothing wrong with adding layers, cards, rewards programs like Swagbucks, etc. and I don’t want that to be the takeaway here.  But for me, it has become too much. I want simplicity and efficiency with my financial habit.  In this article, I identified three pain points in my current finances and propose solutions and action items for each.

Recent Buy – Citizens & Northern (CZNC)

Well…well…well….it looks like January ended the same way it started for me….with buying a stock!  At the beginning of the month I was able to add to my stake in ADM, a darling of the dividend investors community of late due to drop in stock price over the last few months.  And after the boom that occurred at the end of the month, I was happy I purchased shares in ADM when I did.   After my ADM purchase, there was a little bit of a lull period when I sat on the sidelines as the madness unfolded.  Until the end of the month, when I accidentally stumbled on a great opportunity.  You guessed it, I purchased some additional shares of one of my Roth holdings Citizens and Northern Corporation (CZNC).  See why I purchased more shares in this community bank. CZNC

Bert’s Recent Buy – Norwood Financial Group – NWFL

In his last purchase article, Lanny alluded to the fact that I may have purchased the same stock as his.  Well, Lanny was right and great minds think alike.  We have been talking about this purchase for several weeks and we finally just decided to buy it!  While my rationale may have been slightly different than Lanny’s, here is why I added to my stake in Norwood Financial (NWFL).

Lanny’s Recent Purchase – CM

Finally… a trigger has been pulled, the market has had a pull back and Bert, the Jewish one, did not also purchase the same stock I did this time around, joking Bert.  I had been eager to add to my dividend income producing stocks, and the time for me was right.  Since I am an auditor in the financial institutions realm and don’t have too much exposure to banking – that is what step I ended up taking.  Let’s take a look at the purchase.
