Crossing $3,000 in Projected Dividend Income

What a journey it has been so far.   Last week, after a sudden drop in earnings, Target’s price fell and I swooped up an additional 30 shares of the major retailer.  Now, I own 80 freaking shares and couldn’t be happier.  But the good great news didn’t stop there.  No, that investment also put me over a milestone that I have been eyeing for a few months now.    This last purchased pushed my forward dividend income over the $3,000 mark and you know what, there is no turning back now.   How did I get to this point?  Let’s take a look!

Recent Buy (Again) – Target Corporation – TGT

It feels good to step off the sidelines and buy a stock considering the market has been on a tear for the last few months.  Slowly and surely, I was stashing cash aside waiting for the right opportunity to strike.   On this day, I received a message from Lanny in the morning that was short and to the point. “Target…may be time to buy.”  I had just woke up at this time (I was in a timezone two hours behind), but I knew that message meant that something big happened with Target’s stock that caused the price to drop.  When I read the text, I didn’t realize it, but Target was falling after their most recent earnings release.  The time was right, so let’s see I decided to purchase additional shares of Target this week.

Industry Analysis: Grocery Store Stocks

This week, I felt like taking a different approach to finding hidden gem dividend growth stocks.  Typically, as I did with my watch list last week, I run the Dividend Diplomats Stock Screener and try to identify  a sample of stocks that fit my metrics that I can buy at that moment in time.  And if that doesn’t work, Lanny or I will run a different screener and create a “Top 5” stock list of some sorts and identify a certain type of dividend stock we are targeting.  For example, we have run screeners for low dividend yield, high dividend growth rate stocks and dividend growth stocks with low debt to equity ratios in the past.   This time, my approach was to identify an industry that is not represented in my portfolio and check out a few dividend stocks in the sector and see what I’m missing.  Maybe they will fit, maybe they won’t….but there is only one way to find out.  For today, I wanted to check out some grocery store stocks that pay a dividend.

Bert’s June Stock Watch List

Life is finally starting to settle down again now that my wedding festivities are over.  I feel like I finally have the time to needed to properly analyze the stock market and find the perfect stock to buy.  A few days ago, Lanny purchased more shares in Target and I must say, I’m a little jealous of the make he is making moves while I am still sitting on the sideline.   That jealousy, coupled with the excitement I have following our review of other bloggers’ May dividend income figures, leaves me feeling as motivated as ever to find a great stock and invest.   What stocks am I consider?  Time to take a look at my June stock watch list!

Bert’s March Dividend Income Summary

No everyone, this is not an elaborate April Fools joke.  I am actually posting my dividend income article before Lanny this month.  Somehow, some way, he has always managed to publish his article first.  Well not so fast my friend!  I am ready to roll here and review my March dividend income.   The final month of every quarter is always my favorite because a large percentage of companies pay their dividend in this month, so each day is action packed.    It really makes each day exciting!  Let’s take a look and see how much dividend income I received this year and how it compares to the same month last year.

Bert’s January Dividend Income Summary

Wow….January just flew by.  One giant blur to me.  As I take some time to reflect on the month, I realize just how large of a roller coaster ride it was.  Whether it was the wild swings of Mr. Market, receiving dividends, or purchasing a couple of stocks (ADM at the beginning of the month and CZNC at the end of the month), I always had something fun and exciting to look forward to.    So now, just like every month, I took a step back and reviewed my monthly dividend income summary to see how my income stacked up against the same month in the previous quarter and the previous year.  Let’s check it out!

Recent Buy – ADM

Well, I couldn’t stay on the sidelines too long in 2016.   I am AMPED and ready to start the year off strong after setting my goals and realizing that I have some serious work to do.   One of the stocks I already own has been trading at a discount of late and let me tell you, I just couldn’t hold off any longer.  Let’s dive right in and see which company won the honor of being my first stock purchased in 2016 (If the title hasn’t given it away already). Buying Stocks
