Recent Buy (Again) – Target Corporation – TGT

It feels good to step off the sidelines and buy a stock considering the market has been on a tear for the last few months.  Slowly and surely, I was stashing cash aside waiting for the right opportunity to strike.   On this day, I received a message from Lanny in the morning that was short and to the point. “Target…may be time to buy.”  I had just woke up at this time (I was in a timezone two hours behind), but I knew that message meant that something big happened with Target’s stock that caused the price to drop.  When I read the text, I didn’t realize it, but Target was falling after their most recent earnings release.  The time was right, so let’s see I decided to purchase additional shares of Target this week.

I Turned Off My Data for a Week & Lived to Tell About It

November 2012 marked a big change in my life .  During that month,  I lost my “dumb phone” on a flight to St. Louis (still haven’t figured out how I managed to do that) and upgraded to my first smartphone.  For the longest time, I fought off the smartphone craze, saying things like “I don’t need it,” “I can live just fine without having the internet at my fingertips,” and “I don’t want to be one of those people addicted to their phones.”  Well, after I left the airport and realized I didn’t have my phone in my pocket, that change I had been fighting for so long was forced upon me.   Fast forward to summer 2016 and I was forced back into the “dark ages” for a week….I had to turn my data off!  The good news here is that I am still alive to tell you all about it and I learned a lot about our addiction to data during these “troubling” times.   I wanted to share this experience with you all, but please note the references to “struggling” or “tough times” or any other dramatic phrase have a major sarcastic undertone to it!

Lanny’s August Stock Watch List

Surprising title and article, right?  I would be stunned to see a watch list, as well, if I were a reader, given the stock market has continued to hit highs.  Just went you think they are heading for a few days in a row of red, the rug gets taken from underneath you.  Bert and I have had endless conversations over the last week and it’s time to talk about what entities are on my radar.  What companies are out there, that somehow have undervaluation written somewhere on them?  Let’s dive in and see.

Lanny’s July Dividend Income Summary

The hot summer month of July is officially in the books and it’s that time of the month to share the dividend income totals!  Not to keep rubbing it in – but I wonder the Cavs championship and the recent RNC in Cleveland has kept the steam in this engine running, or maybe it is cold hard capital that is keeping the train moving like the locomotive it is.  Either which way – another month is finished, another month towards the goals and another month towards financial freedom.  Without further-ado, let’s see how the month turned out – dividend income wise.

Lanny’s Q2 2016 Goals Update

6 Months are officially in the books and we are nearing the July month end.  2016 is flying – some highs and some lows, but all are experiences to learn from, that’s for damn sure.  There has been a lot of progress, set backs and steps taken forward in order to achieve goals, have a balanced life and new experiences.  I set lofty goals back in December of 2015 for my 2016 year and the first 6 months/half year should provide a solid indication if I am on track to achieve the goals established, let’s see the big update!

June Dividend Income from YOU the Bloggers!

As the tradition continues, each month we aggregate a list to show how other bloggers in the Dividend Investing community are CRUSHING IT!  We are doing the best we can in reading articles during the busy summer months – so by no means if you aren’t on here doesn’t mean that we did not read your article or will read your article, just at the time of reading we added it to the list.  Bert is over here killing it on his 2nd quarter goals, already, as well as having the best day of his life, ever.  The Cavs (YES YES YES!) won an NBA championship and you can say our city of Cleveland is still in celebration mode.  With that being said – see our June Dividend Income summary from the blogging community.

Bert’s Q2 2016 Goals Review

I know I said it in my June Dividend income article as well. But still….HOLY COW, I can’t believe the year is halfway over.  This quarter will always hold a special place in my heart though considering I got married in May.  Can’t believe that was a month ago too. WOW!  After the quarter is over, we like to take some time here and check up on our 2016 goals to check our progress and see if we need to make any necessary adjustments on the fly.   With six months remaining, there is still plenty of time to steer ourselves back onto the road if we have started wandering off.
