2016 is racing to an end. It has been a fascinating couple of weeks here. From a thrilling World Series that sadly didn’t fall in our favor to an election that has caused some noise in the markets. Have we mentioned yet that both of us were lucky enough to attend that historic Game 7?? We’re sure you all know the drill, each month, we first publish our dividend income summaries (Bert’s here and Lanny’s here) and then aggregate as many as we can from ALL OF YOU in the dividend growth investing community. Goal Accomplished – $3,250 in Annual Dividend Income!
I threw a teaser in my last purchase article by mentioning that there was something else that I wanted to share with the community. Well, back when I was setting my goals for 2016, I pushed myself to achieve at least $3,250 in annual dividend income. You guessed it….my last purchase of Realty income pushed me over this mark and my forward dividend income total now sits at $3,265. Now, I’ll summarize how I was able to knock this goal out with just under two months to spare in 2016.
Realty Income (O) Dividend Stock Analysis – REVISITED
If you want to talk about how fast time flies, here is a perfect example. I was prepared to re-visit a dividend stock analysis that I thought I performed over Realty Income (“O”) a couple of quarters ago. When I looked at the date on the original analysis…it was November 2015. I cannot believe 12 months have flown by that quickly…where has time gone? Even though I have reviewed the company in the past, I thought it would be a good idea to update the stock analysis I performed considering the recent pullback in price, the fact that they were one of the four stocks on my October Watch List, and the company’s recent earnings release. A lot can change over 12 months, I think we can all attest to that in some capacity. So let’s re-run Realty Income through our stock screener.
Seeking YOUR Advice About Buying a House
Last weekend, my wife and I met with a real estate agent to initiate the first step of buying our first house! In the past, I have written about how we are in no hurry to purchase a house, take on a mortgage, and begin incurring all the extra expenses that we hear about from friends and family. But, we anticipate the home buying process to be a lengthy process for us as we carefully vet our options to find that perfect house. This article will be a different style and format that I have had in the past, because I would love to leave it open-ended for a discussion and hear from as many people as possible about this topic. Bert’s September Dividend Income Summary
3 quarters down….1 quarter to go. Fresh off my recent 2016 goals review, I am inspired and looking forward to an exciting finish to 2016. The 3rd month of the quarter always brings an exciting dividend income summary because of the mutual fund payouts. And I can’t wait to show you the progress I have made in just 12 months. Bert’s 3rd Quarter Goals Review
We are rounding third and heading home here. Considering the Cleveland Indians clinched the AL Central Division title this week, I figured a baseball reference to start the article off was pretty appropriate. Let’s see if they can capture some of the same postseason magic the Cavs had during their run in May/June. At the end of each quarter, Lanny and I review our annual goals to monitor our progress towards hitting these marks. If we are on pace…great. If we are off track, well there is still time to make some adjustments despite the fact there are only three months remaining. Time to dig and perform my third quarter goals review.
My Not-So-Glorious Cable & Internet Battle
Having cable is a hot topic in the personal finance community. There is one camp that consists of people who have been able to cut the cord and slash their cable, ditching traditional cable, and subscribing to a streaming service like Netflix. And the other camp, which I find myself in, have been unable to cut the cord because they like their traditional package and live sports too much! Well, last month, my cable contract expired and my rates were set to jump. I was torn in both directions and this was the closest I have ever come to cutting the cord. I wanted to share this experience with all of you…check out my last battle with my cable and internet provider.
