Man, talk about tough acts to follow. Lanny had one heck month hauling in a crazy $740 in dividend income during this “off” month. Congrats on the great month Lanny! With figures like that, I am setting myself up for yet another defeat in July, which makes perfect sense considering his portfolio is nearly triple the size of mine. However, I have one glimmer of hope this month that can catapult me to fictitious victory over Lanny. What is it? I own more shares of Kraft than Lanny. The question is, will this one-time special dividend be enough to push my dividend income for the month over $740. Let’s find out!

Lanny’s July Dividend Income
We are in the heat of summer, which means it’s time to cool down, take a deep breath and see what fruit the month has grown for us in terms of dividend income! Not usually the biggest month of dividends, but there were a few “big” things going on this month that led this to an extremely awesome and record-breaking month of income, one that is going to be very, very hard to beat! Well, enough of the mysterious writing about what happened in this monster month of receiving dividend income – let’s go and take a look at the dollars!
Ending a Short Chapter in My Career
This Sunday, I woke, poured my morning cup (or two or three) of coffee and turned on the television. I began flipping through the channels to see what I could watch before I fired up my laptop to begin blogging. I stumbled across a classic, Office Space, and had to watch the rest of the movie. It is one of those movies I have to watch to the finish line, regardless of whether I started watching at the beginning, middle or the end. Even though I have watched the movie time and time again, there was something different about watching it this weekend.
Recent Purchase – Consolidated Edison
I recently reloaded my Sharebuilder (now Capital One Investing…I know, it will take some time getting used to) with some extra capital and was ready to make a purchase. We recently built a small watch list that had me focused on buying two stocks I already own. But man, what a difference a week can make and after some time, a new stock entered the picture for me. This is a stock Lanny and I have been watching for a while and are huge fans of the stock. Not only is it a Dividend Aristocrat, but it is one of the five stocks we consider a foundation stock for any dividend portfolio. Unfortunately my title gave the purchase away, so let’s see why I initiated a position in Consolidated Edison this week.
Crossing $55,000 in Market Value & $2,000 in Dividend Income
As we mentioned in our blog’s one year anniversary post a few days ago, my portfolio has crossed a couple of major milestones recently and I am very excited to finally share them with the community. Over the couple of months, I have crossed both $55,000 in Market Value and $2,000 in Projected Dividend Income. I still can’t believe it, as it seems like just yesterday I was crossed $40,000 in market value (last June) and $1,750 in projected dividend income (last August). Two round, iconic numbers in my eyes. It has been a fun journey between milestones, so lets take a look at how I got there.

Bert’s April Dividend Income
As a great band once said….”Another one bites the dust.” Another month bites the dust and we are now entering May. April was a crazy month that consisted of more transactions than I can remember for a while, the capstone of which was my investment in one of the largest railroad companies Norfolk Southern. Unfortunately though, I will not be reaping the dividend benefits from these transactions until next quarter. After seeing a minimal YOY increase of 8% in my dividend income in March, I am hoping that my investing throughout the first four months of the year will begin to show in April. Looks like it is time to dive in and review my April dividend income summary.
Lanny’s Quarterly Goals Check Up
Three months are in the book baby! Given that 90 days have past, it’s time to look back at the goals I previously set back in November of 2014 and to see what lane I am in on this track to accomplishing them. I went into the 2015 year with full of positivity and motivation to line them up and knock them out of the park. How big has the bat been this winter? Time for the quarterly update.
