Lanny’s Recent Purchase – DOW

It’s been a few weeks since my last purchase in April, as I’ve been much more selective with what I’m deploying out there.  I have officially received capital on Monday the 18th and was excited to see what the opening day was going to bring me.  One stock I had a look out for was increasing around $1 per share and I just wasn’t feeling the additional market value appreciation and thought I’d grab them again at some point soon.  However, this company below was also on my list.  I set in a price for a limit order and I kid you not – it dipped down to just a cent over it without triggering the purchase!  BUT… the end of the day occurred and the stock dipped to the price (actually did hit a penny below it) and my limit order triggered and boom, we now have a new purchase… and it’s a familiar one.

Lanny’s March Dividend Income

As time passes, so does a month of collecting dividend income.  I am astounded by the first quarter already being in the books and my busy season feeling like it is 80% over.  How wild is that?  My fourth full busy season is just about up.  Almost 900 hours later (that’s insanity in human terms) and I’m writing my quarter end, month of March Dividend post.  Enough about busy season, let’s talk dividend income!

Lanny’s Recent Stock Purchase – CAT and HCP

I’m back at it baby!  After almost a one month hiatus from buying a stock outside of my 401k purchases through my employer, I am back on the saddle and made a few moves.  The month of March has opened up great opportunities into the market place and I’m even more excited to purchase more stock in the coming days/weeks.  The market from the last 5 business days of 3/2 – 3/6, has dropped almost 2 % overall and has really opened up great dividend stocks at better prices.  I took advantage of a few this week, let’s take a look.

Itching for a Buy…Anxiety of a Dividend Growth Investor

It is Valentine’s Day and here I am wondering/thinking – wow, it’s been almost two weeks since I have made a stock purchase.  My last purchase was another small investment using a free trade credit into IBM and it was a small – $547.00 investment at that.  It hasn’t been a full two weeks, looking back, as the trade happened on February 3rd (I didn’t write about it, it was very minimal to my eyes) but when you are used to making almost weekly purchases, the dividend growth investor anxiety kicks in.

Dividend Diplomats Weekly Purchases – 1/5/15

This week started out with a lot of excitement, at least for any dividend investors looking to initiate a long-term position.  Right out of the gate, the market began to slide and reached its lowest point by mid-day Tuesday. Luckily, for both Lanny and me, we were able to catch the market at its lowest point and purchase some new/additional shares for our portfolio.

The Impact of the Dividend Growth Rate

Ah-ha!  An epiphany over my head came yesterday, a little after 7:00pm.  A few days ago, I showed Bert that I added a column to my portfolio spreadsheet that showed this year of 2014’s dividend growth rate for each stock.  One other column that I have in my spreadsheet, as well, is not just the weighting each stock has in my portfolio, but also the weight each stock has of income in my portfolio.  After adding in the dividend growth rate to my portfolio on each stock, I decided to weight each growth rate by mistakenly the weight it had in my portfolio via market value.  When talking with Bert yesterday, I realized I made that mistake and changed it to apply to the weight of income it had in my portfolio.  I began to think of what this tool meant, how it can be used and the actual impact it has on the path to financial freedom! dividend growth rate Continue reading

Crushing $5,000 in Projected Dividend Income

What a year it has truly been.  A few late dividend announcements has allowed me to conclude that my forward looking dividend income stream has hit a new milestone that going into 2014 – I had no idea existed.  Heck, my initial 2014 dividend projected goal was $3,350 which kept being subsequently moved up as the year progressed.  You can judge my post by the title, but let’s see what projected dividend income milestone I have reached.crushing it Continue reading
