Lanny’s Recent Purchase – HCP

May has been a very fun month, to say the least!  I’ve been a more active investor, I feel, and have made a few purchases actually.  The market has been interesting lately, finally a little correction (as it so seems) is taking place and amazing bargain stocks are shedding their heads on the horizon, and damn – do I wish I had more cash sitting around!  I made a purchase this month, come and check it out.

Mowing the Lawn – Frugal Style!

It’s summer, not yet, but here in Ohio it’s currently 70 degrees plus oddly enough and it’s only the beginning of May.  My grass has started to sprout, er uhm.. giant green stalk actually and it’s time to get the mowing season started.  I have a VERY Small lot and a brief background is my oil/gas powered “machine” went out on me at the beginning of LAST summer.  Sure, I could have gone out to buy a new powered mower and spend $150-$300 on a gas powered-get out of my way lawn mower, I mean everyone has one of those and how the heck else do you cut grass if you don’t have an oiled-machine?  I took a step back and went back into “time” for the method to my “huge” aka tiny lawn this year, which ended up being the frugal method.  Look at this beast and let’s talk about it:

Bert’s Quarterly Goal Review

We are done with one-quarter in 2015 folks.  As Lanny mentioned, time flies by!  These last three months have been a whirlwind for me, personally, professionally, and investing wise.   Between helping plan a wedding, working a busy season, making some stock purchases and other big decisions (you guys will know soon enough!), the first three months were a giant blur.   But these are all great events and I have set myself up to have a very memorable 9 months of 2015!  This year I told myself that I was going to pay closer attention to my goals to make sure that I am on target to meet the goals and that way, if I need to, I can make any necessary adjustments.  Well, here we go, let’s dive into my quarterly goal review!

Itching for a Buy…Anxiety of a Dividend Growth Investor

It is Valentine’s Day and here I am wondering/thinking – wow, it’s been almost two weeks since I have made a stock purchase.  My last purchase was another small investment using a free trade credit into IBM and it was a small – $547.00 investment at that.  It hasn’t been a full two weeks, looking back, as the trade happened on February 3rd (I didn’t write about it, it was very minimal to my eyes) but when you are used to making almost weekly purchases, the dividend growth investor anxiety kicks in.

Bert’s Savings Rate Summary: January

I think I have said this in every article I have written this year….I can’t believe how fast time is flying.  We are through one month of 2015 already.  It seems like yesterday I was just writing a post about my goals for 2015.  One of the most challenging goals was to defeat the Dividend Diplomats’ Savings Challenge 6 times this year!  Did I move one step closer to accomplishing this goal after January came to a close?  Let’s find out! Bert’s Savings Rate Summary: December

I know I am a little late to the game with this article, but I wanted to take some time to assess my savings rate for December.  Better late than never, right?  The last month of the year is always tough to save in, considering all the holiday shopping, meals with out-of-town family members,  re-uniting with friends that are around the holidays, etc.    With all the headwinds I was facing during the month, was I able to weather this storm and still defeat the Dividend Diplomats’ 60% Savings Challenge?

Bert’s Savings Rate Summary: November

My third month of taking the Dividend Diplomats 60% Savings Challenge is officially over.  I am coming off quite the high note in October as I was able to successfully save 63% of my income!  Could I keep the momentum going and achieve the coveted 60% savings ratio once again this month?
