Lanny’s Recent Stock Purchase – Cisco (CSCO) X 2

The captain is back in the steering wheel and I directed the ship to another stock investment purchase.  This so happened to occur on August 1st and felt nice to start the month off with deployment of fresh capital.  As I look to close out the last 5 months of the year strong, i made an additional investment purchase into Cisco (CSCO) as the dividend metrics were right up my alley.  It’s time to jump into my stock purchase, in order to find out why and how the dividend metrics appeared.

Bert’s July Dividend Income Summary

2017 is flying by.  I barely know what hit me for work here in July.  Between travelling for work and gaining possession of our house, I have barely had time to sit down, relax, and focus on things.  But I must say, I couldn’t be happier doing some of the house work and I am finding it fun and therapeutic (especially when I am listening to music while painting).  Before I knew it, July was over and it was time for me to recap my performance and write my July dividend income summary.  Let’s see how I performed during the month.

Lanny’s July Dividend Income Summary

Another month down and another month closer, they say.  Closer to financial freedom!  This pursuit of financial freedom and/or financial independence has been such a ride, I cannot wait for what’s to come.  The fireworks have come and gone and now we are hitting into the peak summer heat here in Ohio and it will start to cool down towards the end of the month, as Fall begins to enter our territory.  Hopefully that means that just the temperature outside cooling and that my portfolio’s dividend income is heating up!  Let’s dive into my dividend income results from the month of August!

Expected Dividend Increases in August 2017

What dividend investor doesn’t love receiving a dividend increase from one of their holdings?  No hands are raised….exactly what I expected.   Lanny and I are constantly monitoring our portfolios to make sure we measure the impact of a dividend increase the day the company makes their announcement.  We love instant results!  So each month, we take summarize a listing of Dividend Aristocrats (and a handful of non-Aristocrats) that are set to increase their dividend in the coming month to share our excitement with the community.   Now it is time to dive in and see which companies are expected to increase their dividend in August!

Lanny’s August Dividend Stock Watch List

It’s that time of the month, where I have my calculator, the pen & pencil & I start analyzing what I love most, dividend stocks, and to see which companies have a chance to be on my watch list.  I like to come out with the watch list towards the end of the month, as I line up my capital troops to see where they may be deployed.  I did not make any investment stock purchases in July, yet, and the capital lineup is getting bigger.

Bert’s Q2 2017 Goals Review

I’m starting to see a trend with the second quarter of each year for me…it is ridiculously busy.  In 2016, my wife and I had our wedding.  In 2017, we attended a few weddings, purchased a “new” used car, and oh yeah, we purchased our first home!  Life truly comes at you fast, and that was a statement that I never truly appreciated until recently.  So much can change in the blink of an eye, it makes you realize that you have to make sure you enjoy as much of it as possible before it is too late.    With the second quarter in the rear view mirror, Lanny and I take some time to assess our progress towards knocking out the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year.  Here is my Q2 2017 Goals review!

How Traveling for Work Led to an Unexpected Housing Expense

I feel like I am just stuck in a rut right now.   A lot of exciting things are going on at the moment, and I know that I should be enjoying them.  We finally closed on our house and the title is in our name.  The thought of home-ownership was at one point a dream and now it is a reality.   Now the projects begin.  We have an apartment to pack, wallpaper to tear down, walls to pain, hardwood floors to re-finish, and other projects that will emerge at the blink of an eye.   This should be fun; this should be exciting.  But something feels off right now as I write this article from my hotel room.  After sitting at the same looking desk that I have sat at so many times at every Hampton Inn in “you name it” city, it finally it me.  The reason I am feeling off right now is not because of the volume of work that has to be done on my house, but rather, the fact that I will be traveling a lot for work over the next few months  is having negative impact on my ability to complete these projects and even worse, my savings account.
