Bert’s February Dividend Income Summary

Well, well, well.  Looks like another month has finally come to a close.  We are in the first couple of weeks of a new month, so you know what that means… it is time to post my monthly dividend income update.  What seems to be a recurring theme, Lanny beat me to the punch and published his February income summary last week.  I want to echo everything the commenters said about his month.  He crushed it and increased his February dividend income 43% compared to 2015.  That was with KMI’s dividend cut.  Congrats on the awesome month Lanny!    Internally, I created this competition to defeat Lanny in terms of a dividend growth rate each month.  43% is a high bar to surpass, so let’s see if my dividend income in February grew more than his.   Time to check out the results.

Lanny’s February Stock Watch List

Needless to say, the stock market has been a “mean green” this past week and man, the buying opportunities are drying up and fast!  It feels like it was just yesterday that we were battling low oil prices and other commodity fluctuations, that was ultimately causing the entire market to head south for the winter.  Then, the curveball of the green machine of the stock market kept roaring this week and was breaking some ground – even with some of the major macro economic factors still in play.  I can’t make much of it, but I do have a watch list of stocks that I have my eyes on.  Come check them out!

Lanny’s February Dividend Income Summary

Another month down and 1/6th of the way there for the full year.  It was 64 degrees in Cleveland during the final days of February and I cannot believe the weather is acting the same as the market – just never know what you’ll get!  February was a very rollercoaster month, first with the news from BBL’s dividend cut that definitely left me feeling some pain, but also new inspiration to get back on the horse and trudge forward, because that’s all we can do!  Without further-a-do, let’s see how February played out for me!

Dividend Diplomats Recent Buy – T. Rowe (TROW)

The Diplomats were back and at it again!  Loving the end of February, the turmoil and the continuous short-term declines in the market that unlocks opportunity in just a blink of an eye.  We were on the hot seat this week, and boy did we take some advantage of market fluctuations.  Wednesday was a well placed trade on a wonderful asset management company – T. Rowe Price (TROW).  Let’s see how, when and what led the purchase by both of us!

First KMI… now BBL… The Pain

Here I am again… hurting, almost feels like the knife that went in the first time was starting to come out, only to be pushed, but this time twisted.  Another dividend cut, the 2nd one in three little months.  Another commodity dependent business – BHP Billiton (BBL) cut their dividend, by an almost “coincidentally” 74% – the approximate figure that KMI also cut theirs by.  This didn’t just sting, this burns, but it is a very & true learning experience for me.  Read on… Continue reading

Bert’s February Watch List

I’m getting an itch to invest.  Even after purchasing Pfizer a few weeks ago I still have some capital that I am trying to deploy.  This is eerily starting to remind me of when Lanny ran into the same problem (at the same time as a matter of fact!) of having capital to deploy but  no where to put it.    Despite the fact that the market wasn’t cooperating this week, I have my eyes on a few stocks that are getting very close to my “buy” zone.   If the prices fall next week, I may not be able to resist buying.  Time to check out my February Watch List!
