A Call to Action: It is Time to Pay Off My Debt!

Lanny and I are constantly writing about our pursuit of financial freedom.  We invest every dollar and spend every extra minute we can side-hustling to allow us to break the shackles of the 9-5 (or in our case 7 – 6) jobs to pursue our dreams and focus on what makes us happiest in life.  The dividend and side hustle income will allow us to cover our regular living expenses, take the pressures of working to cover these expenses, and unlock those shackles that are holding us back.  That’s how you take back the control of your life.   Today, I’m going to take a deep dive into one of the largest areas of my personal balance sheet.  No, I’m not focusing on the assets for once.  Rather, I am going to pull back the layers of our debt and discuss my plan for reducing my outstanding obligations taking back control of my personal balance sheet.

Bert’s August Dividend Income Summary

Where does time continue to go? Expected Dividend Increases in September 2017

It is time for the most exciting dividend month of the quarter!  There is nothing more exciting than seeing the calendar turn and realizing that it is the month that most companies pay their dividend.  This is where you really see the fruits of your investing labor and the power of dividend investing flex its muscle.  For those of you that are new to our website, each month we create a list of some (not all) companies that are expected to increase their dividend in the coming month.   Dividend increases are the name of the game and what we are constantly monitoring on our website; we get pretty darn excited each time a company announces an increase because we know that each successive dividend re-investment results in additional shares, which leads to additional dividend income.  The impact may be small on an individual level, but man do these increases add up in the long run.   Now it is time to dive into the details and see which companies are expected to announce dividend increases in September.

Bert’s Recent Buy – Cardinal Health (CAH)

Recently, I’ve had an itch to purchase a stock and I was motivated as heck to scratch the itch.   The motivation is coming from all directions. Whether it was from seeing my cash balance increase since I have been hoarding cash while preparing to move into our house, seeing impressive growth rates in our monthly dividend investing income summary from the community, and quite frankly, watching Lanny to continue to add to his portfolio and see his dividend income soar.   We all motivate each other and push each other, and seeing all of you crush it has motivated to move some cash from my recent “hoard” to my investment account and add  a company that is on my last watch list.  I still have a long, long, way to go if I am going to catch Lanny.  But heck, I have to start somewhere, right??  All, check out why I added to my stake in Cardinal Health, Inc. Bert’s August Dividend Stock Watch List

It has been a few months since I have purchased my last stock and man oh man am I starting to get an itch.   Times have been interesting for me recently. I am arms deep in working through project after project in our new house and have been hoarding my cash lately in the event we stumble on an unexpected “surprise.”  But I am extremely motivated to purchase some stock after seeing my cash balance increase, Lanny make some moves by purchasing Cisco, and reading through so many great dividend income summaries in our monthly dividend income summary from the blogging community.  It is getting harder and harder to resist.  So now, I thought I would put together a watch list to prepare for when the right moment strikes.

Bert’s July Dividend Income Summary

2017 is flying by.  I barely know what hit me for work here in July.  Between travelling for work and gaining possession of our house, I have barely had time to sit down, relax, and focus on things.  But I must say, I couldn’t be happier doing some of the house work and I am finding it fun and therapeutic (especially when I am listening to music while painting).  Before I knew it, July was over and it was time for me to recap my performance and write my July dividend income summary.  Let’s see how I performed during the month.
