Banking Without Branches (3 Months Later) & A HUGE Life Lesson Learned

Woah, I can’t believe time has flown by this quickly.   It seems like just yesterday I was walking into my banks, closing my accounts, and requesting a cashier’s check with the remaining funds.   Why did I do this? My wife and I were looking to consolidate our finances after our wedding and wanted to experiment with using a bank without any physical branches in our area.   Ultimately, we selected Capital One as for this grand experiment.  That was three months ago, so I wanted to share the results of this experiment with all of you!  But wait, there is more.  Over the last three months, this experience and others has taught me a HUGE life lesson that I would like to share with all of you.

Lanny’s Recent Purchase – Target (TGT) and T. Rowe Price (TROW)

You have to love Mr. Market when the trend turns lower.  You have to be prepared, the artillery ready and the decisiveness to your actions.  I am so lucky that I was ready last week, especially on Monday the 12th, when the market plunged downward and I had been prepared to make a purchase or two.  Those two purchases happened to be Target (TGT) and T. Rowe Price (TROW).

Recent Buy – Cardinal Health, Inc. (CAH)

This week, I officially jumped back into the marketplace.  It feels like it has been a while and finding great stocks at a value has been difficult (which is part of the reason why Lanny’s portfolio has sky-rocketed over the last few months).   If you have been following the blog over the last few weeks or if you read the title to the article before clicking, the stock I purchased this week shouldn’t be a surprise.   Time to see where I allocated my capital this week.

Dividend Stock Analysis – Cardinal Health, Inc. (CAH)

A few weeks ago, I ran a stock screener and published my August dividend stock watch list.  That screener had a new entrant that seemed to check most of our boxes for investing, Cardinal Health (CAH).  Headquartered in the buckeye state, I instantly had flashbacks to college recruiting events since they sponsored A LOT of events at college.   The stock price continues to fall, so I wanted to perform a detailed analysis on Cardinal Health before committing to buy this healthcare company.  Here it is, my dividend stock analysis over Cardinal Health!

How My Stock Portfolio has Skyrocketed

Finally, a fun title, right?  Labor day has just ended and I am writing this article, as I have recently updated my portfolio and just smiled at what has occurred.  As the community may remember, I have been writing about my new strategies that I have put in place on my portfolio, and the results are quite pleasing.  This article, I am hoping, will show you the actual impact on my portfolio from the actions I have taken and to also share my progress towards financial freedom.   Remember – I am trying to keep as much money in our pocket from our income, to maximize the amount of assets we can buy, to decrease this thing called “time” that we are counting down towards financial freedom! Bert’s August Dividend Income Summary

We’ve closed the chapter on yet another month of 2016.  Time moves so fast…it is unreal.   It seems like just yesterday I was typing up my July dividend income summary and feeling excited for what was in store for me in August (probably because we went on our honeymoon!).   I received my last dividend of the month a few days ago, so it is finally time to once again share my results and track my progress as I race towards completing my 2016 goals.  With that being said, here it is, my August Dividend Income Summary!

Make Saving Part of Your Routine

Since our wedding, my wife and I have been talking about how excited we are for things to settle down.   She is also in grad school, which is occupying a lot of her time, but she is in the homestretch and final semester.   Why do I bring this up?   Because there are a lot of great saving habits or routine that take time.  When you are working full-time, planning a wedding, and in grad school like she is, time is at a premium.   However, despite the busy schedule, the two of us have committed to trying to making saving routine in one aspect…..grocery shopping.   In this article, I will walk you through why we want to establish a routine for saving on groceries and  how we have been practicing this routine over the last several weeks.
