The Reminder of being a Dividend Growth Investor from KMI’s News

SMACK!  The thunderous market was turmoiling, lower and lower.  Kinder Morgan (KMI) was taking a beating.  They just announced news about additional investments, further deteriorating the credit quality by the rating indexes.  From trading at $42.81 to begin the year and then plummeting downward to a spiral collapse at $16.42 on the close of 12/7, is truly amazing, a 62% decline from one of the Nation’s biggest/largest oil pipeline companies.  Management kept enamoring a dividend focused strategy, to set increases at a % growth rate each year, and then committing by showing/increasing the dividend throughout the year.   Interesting how the year really can unfold…  Continue reading

Lanny’s Recent Purchase – ADM

Whoa Whoa!  The market has been on the slide, going downwards and man, new opportunities are unleashing!  I know everyone has been busy with re-couping over the KMI decision – they will be fine, and with the large moat they have, should survive.  It’s been a wild as all hell week and the capital has been unloaded.  Let’s check out the purchase.

Bert’s Recent Buy – EMR…too

Yesterday was a very fun day for me as I quickly went from a passive trader who was standing to the sideline in a matter of minutes.  My purchase on Friday shared a lot of parallels with a situation from a month or two ago, which resulted in learning a valuable investing about always having a watch list prepared.  The best part…the result was different and I couldn’t be happier.  See why I purchased Emerson Electric (EMR) yesterday.

Dividend Diplomats August Watch List

It’s already mid-August and us Diplomats haven’t came out with our watch list yet.  The market has been a rollercoaster ride, to which I hope everyone this summer has had some sort of an amusement happen, gone to a theme park, taken a day or so off to take it all in.  Well, we were back to the lab and doing research on finding what stocks we are looking at.  Enough with it – lets see what is on our August watch list!

Recent Buy – Emerson Electric (EMR)

I have been compiling some cash recently and had enough to establish a great entry-level position in a company.  Over the last few months,  there have been many events impacting the market and pushing the price of some great companies lower and lower.   So I wanted to make this purchase count and pick up a rock-solid dividend paying stock, one that I now think should be included on Lanny’s infamous foundation stock listing.   Unfortunately, the title gave it away.  See why I decided to invest in Emerson Electric this week.

The Dividend Diplomats Recent Buy – JNJ

The Dividend Diplomats were at it again!  We both had bought the same company on Tuesday June 16th and we couldn’t be any more happier/excited with the purchase.  The best part about it, neither of us had any idea we purchased the stock.  We just sent each other a message discussing the purchase and it just so happened we set up the same automatic on Sharebuilder.  The stock was back down a handful of dollars per share and in this volatile stock market environment, the company was too good to pass up on the price point and with the “legendary” status it has.  We bought had made the purchase – an additional allocation and one a whole new stock.  We purchased Johnson and Johnson (JNJ).  Let’s see why we bought them!

Recent Purchase – Consolidated Edison

I recently reloaded my Sharebuilder (now Capital One Investing…I know, it will take some time getting used to) with some extra capital and was ready to make a purchase.  We recently built a small watch list that had me focused on buying two stocks I already own.  But man, what a difference a week can make and after some time, a new stock entered the picture for me.  This is a stock Lanny and I have been watching for a while and are huge fans of the stock.  Not only is it a Dividend Aristocrat, but it is one of the five stocks we consider a foundation stock for any dividend portfolio.  Unfortunately my title gave the purchase away, so let’s see why I initiated a position in Consolidated Edison this week.
