December Dividend Income from YOU the Bloggers!

Ah, the best month for being a Dividend Investor.  Most companies pay on a quarterly basis in the third month of the quarter and for those that have mutual fund/ETF investments, the dividends and capital gains pour in at the end of the year.  Due to the insane amount of dividend increases and with the benefit of consistency from our community, we expect the report below to be mind-blowing and many records to be set.  Here is the December version of the dividend income from YOU the bloggers!

Passive Canadian Income – $624.50 –  There were a lot of moving parts in this months dividend income, some sales, and some buys, all of which resulted in a solid growth rate compared to last year.  On top of it, PCI had over $1,000 in total income when considering solar income and other sources.

My Dividend Dynasty – $947.22 – Ending the year in true style.  A record setting month…not quite?  However,  you’re knocking on the doorsteps of $1,000 and are going to get ready to roll into 2019.

Dividend Gremlin – $408.89 –  The Gremlin continues to strike with fury.  The 16.9% increase compared to last year set a NEW RECORD from Gremlin.  The first of our post.  Trust us though, this isn’t going to be the last.

Dividend Seedling – $34.37 –  Seedling has continued to plant dividend seeds over the last few years and the results are starting to payoff.  We’ve enjoyed seeing your progress through 2018 DS and are looking forward to watching it continue to grow.

All About The Dividends – $689.67  –  You know it is going to be a great income summary when it has “Best Month Ever” in the title.    Matthew did not disappoint in December.  Here is a cliff-hanger.  Did Matthew beat his 2018 dividend income goal?  It was REALLY REALLY close this year.  But you’ll have to stop by the article to see the final results.  Regardless of the outcome, Matthew crushed it in 2018.

Dividend Income Stocks – $412.87 –   Boom –  an 18% year-over-year growth rate.  DIS received a nice special dividend from a bank stock, which is always a nice treat to end the year!

Dividend Geek – $634.37 – Okay, so this is technically a Q4 dividend update,  but we wanted to include Geek’s results as well.   That was over a 178% increase compared to Q4 2017.  Geek –  nice job!

Five More Years – $1,312.98 – Uhm, how many different companies paid you?  I think I counted 40, YIKES!  That’s some serious cash flow rolling your way and I’m pumped for you.  Also, sweet site name!

Dividend Dozer – $231.38 – I see you love your VTI fund’s dividend and congrats on the increase.  Further, you have a fairly diversified stream of income from the industries that are paying you, specifically love your Archer (ADM), Coke (KO) and McDonalds (MCD).  Congrats on the solid month!

A Frugal Family’s Journey – $160.34 – You had a nice dividend from Exxon (XOM) and hopefully it was reinvested, as their price has plummeted over the last month or so.  Congrats on the solid finish to the year, though, AFFJ!

Dividend Guy Blog – $421.18 – Envious of that Disney (DIS) stock that you have!  What a great company to own.  Cheers to a prosperous 2019!

Money Maaster – $1,578.42 – WHOA!  A nice home-run, with the 4 digit month.  Also, your XAW iShares distribution was insane/epic.  Always giving the head nod to your US equity fund distribution, representing!  Congrats on the solid earnings.

Dividends Down Under – $30.17 – What’s awesome is you didn’t have any new investment nor reinvestment, bu your income went up over 3% from December of last year.  That’s what being a dividend investor is all about, congrats DDU!

Young Dividend – $1,403.52 – Dayum!  Another home run.  Congrats young divvy, killing it out there.  That’s cool that you have individual stocks in your 401(k), as well.  I see that Dominion (D) packs a punch across your portfolio, I bet you loved their latest increase.  Congrats and keep it up.

My Dividend Pipeline – $268.80 – MDP coming back with those dividends!  You definitely are capturing the dogs of the year, in Kraft (KHC) and Exxon (XOM) – love the high yields.

Reverse The Crush – $46.74 – You have to love reading about a 303% year-over-year increase in dividend income!  RTC is entering Year 3 with a full head of steam and has the perfect mindset to continue crushing it.

Dividend FIREman – $1,498.02 –  The numbers cited in this article are truly insane.  A new record, almost $1,500 in dividend income, over $10k in dividends received in 2018, and almost $18k in projected dividend income in 2019.  FIREman, just incredible, just incredible.

Investing Pursuits – $478.61 –  A nice blend of companies helped EP finish off the year strong.  That ENB position was not messing around, that’s for sure.

Dividend Snail – $300.05 – It had to be a great feeling crossing the $300 mark this month, right DS?   It is awesome that you didn’t receive dividends from any new companies this month compared to last year, and most of the impact was due to dividend increases, DRIP, and a few additional purchases of existing positions.

Divvy Dad – $3,968.83 or $13,980.77 – So many companies paid you and holy crap, that capital gain distribution was insane.  You have a pretty nice spread too, across the entities that pay you, from Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) & 3M (MMM) to Microsoft (MSFT), Target (TGT) and Coke (KO).  Keep inspiring and purchasing stock!

Tawcan – $1,834.96 – Do you know how long it took me to scroll your list of companies that paid you?  It’s so awesome.  Impressive growth and impressive numbers all around, plus deploying over $65K in capital, is just awesome.  2019 – giddy up!

Wallet Squirrel – $29.89 – Only a small portion to your overall passive income picture for the month.  Excited for your heavily anticipated 2nd project that is to be released at the end of the month!  Better let us all know!

Dividend Hawk – $1,333.64 – Crushing last year by 30%, Hawk flying in for the win!  A lot of great names that I don’t own, such as Flower Foods (FLO), Gilead Sciences (GILD) and VF Corp (VFC).  Boost that goal for 2019, you got this!

Drip Til Rich – $583.63 – Whoa!  There we go, cruising over $500, strong finish to the year.  Congrats on crossing $2k for the year and am very excited to see you crush past $4k next year.  Keep it up.

Broke Investor – $12.92 –  Three excellent companies paid BI money this month.  Why are they excellent?  Because both of us are fellow shareholders as well.   Great minds think alike!

Dividend Vet – $530.47 –  Wow Vet.  19 companies contributed to your 38% year-over-year increase.  Those were some nice distributions from your Vanguard funds as well.

Dividend Daze – $156.48 – A new personal record for Dividend Daze.  Congrats on breaking $150 in monthly dividend income for the first time.  This surely won’t be your last time either.  Can’t wait to see you crack $200.

Snug Fortune – $133.36 –  Just a rock-solid listing of some great dividend paying companies paid SF dividends this month.  Awesome progress and nice purchase of Dominion to start of 2019 in style.  We both are shareholders of D.

Dividend Meter – $1,115.66 –   Wow –  that is how you push the Dividend Meter forward right there.  What’s nuts is that this list does not even include any mutual fund distributions.

Dividends and Hobbies – $695.56 –  Don’t sweat the fact that you didn’t hit $700 in 2019.  As you said, you’ll hit it at least twice in 2019.  It’ll take just one or two small dividend increase to get there, especially if PEG is the one that increases their dividend.  What a paycheck from them!

Engineering Dividends – $1,000.41 –  YES YES YES ED!  You hit $1,000 by a razor thin margin.  Man are we pumped that you were able to show a four figure income rather than a measly $999 dividend income for the total.

Kody’s Dividend – $53.86 –  Kody wasn’t kidding, saying that time just flies by.  How on earth is it 2019 already?   Kody’s growth in 2018 was great and this was a great way to finish off the year in style.

A Dividend Dream –  128 Euros –  Welcome back ADD!  Dividend Aristocrat after Dividend Aristocrat greeted your portfolio this month.  Busting back onto the scene in style.

I Want Dividend – 242.66 Euros – I think it is safe to say that we all want some dividends haha Oil and Utilities dominated this dividend income report, but it produced some solid figures for the month.

Passive Income Pursuit – $1,096.88 –  That’s the way to be PIP!  JC – Wow.   Your dividend income summary was filled with so many great statistics that demonstrate the progress you made in 2018.  Excellent stuff.

Dividend Quest – $863.23 – Almost to the $1k.  No sweat to the minor dividend reduction, you’ll more than make up that with one dividend reinvestment or increase.

Financially Free in 10 Years – 40.78 (Euro) – Looks like we share names in Archer (ADM), IBM, Intel (INTC), Realty Income (O) and your list continues.  Great income and a 373% growth rate isn’t too shabby either.  Let’s see a repeat!

Dividend Pig – $1,734.60 – First off, a 60% increase on this income is amazing.  Then, to have 58 companies pay you… speechless.  Dividends are sure in your trough and we are all looking to eat!  Congrats.

Dividend Deluge – 229.20 (Euro) – I see you have Enbridge (ENB) and Microsoft (MSFT) – two companies that Bert nor I have owned.  They’ve been on the radar, but really nice portfolio.

Dividend Earner – $1,692 – Good Lord, almost $20k on the year and you are gearing towards 23,000 in dividend income in 2019, just ridiculous.  Props to you and looking forward to your progress.

Total:  40 Bloggers Received $28,959.12 in Dividends in December (depending on the exchange rate used at the time of the calculation)

Wow!  That represents an average dividend of $724 per blogger out there.  Wow, ALMOST $30,000.  Such an awe-inspiring figure.  Can we get to $35,000 next December?  If we stay consistent, share our results and have modest dividend payout increases, we can get there.  We know everyone is battling the snow and freezing cold weather, but let’s not forget to keep that dividend plate hot!  Let’s continue to make EVERY DOLLAR COUNT and continue to push forward.  Congratulations and onward to new heights friends!

  1. Wow! that’s a lot of money!
It’s refreshing to read such post when most investors think the apocalypse is about to fall on their heads 🙂 Let’s break some dividend milestones in 2019!

  2. Wow! Almost $30k in dividends is insane. This is by far my favorite series out of any blog. We’re reminded every time that no matter what the market does, the proof of DGI is in the dividends. As always, thanks for the mention.

  3. As usual, thank you for including me in this distinguished group of dividend investors. Congratulations to everyone on a phenomenal end to 2018. It is nice to see so many familiar faces doing so well.

    • BHL.

Isn’t it crazy how many people are earning four digit income. What’s really cool is that we have seen everyone grow over the years. Many of these bloggers started in the low ranges and have grown over the years. It is truly exciting to see.

    • P2035,

You don’t have to do monthly updates. Keep doing your own schedule and we will try to remember to include you at the quarter-end going forward. But for now, why don’t you throw a link in the comment section so readers can see the link and follow it to your site! Also put the dividend income amount in the response!

  4. Loving these posts. I love how the diplomats do a great job of not only summarizing all the fantastic community members dividends individually. But they average it out across us all too. I love watching this number increase month after month. Just goes to show that dividend investing “pays” off. Keep up the awesome job all. And a hearty thank you to Burt and Lanny for these incredible posts.

    • Glad you are enjoying these posts as much as we are Dr. Thank you very much by the way, that’s too kind! The average was an addition by Lanny and I agree, I like seeing it too. It just motivates me to keep fighting and continue pusing forward. Let’s crush it in 2019!

  5. Hot damn, awesome results from the DGI community! Everyone is absolutely crushing it and there are some outstanding YoY growth numbers being achieved! All of that despite the terrible market in December too, which is further evidence that the divvy don’t care what the market is doing.

Thanks as always for the recap guys; if you’re at FinCon this year, I’ll buy you guys a drink haha!

    • DivvyDad,

The community just crushed it, didn’t they. This just goes to show what happens when you invest in good companies that have a history of paying dividend. Through good times and bad, these companies have found a way to maintain and increase their dividend. If we can make it to FinCon, we will happily share a beer!!

  6. Wow awesome stuff. Nearly $30k and over $700 average is huge. I’m sure it’d be a pain to but it’d be awesome to see things “normalized” a bit since I’m sure you’ve added bloggers over time to see how the dividends have grown over time. Thanks again for compiling all this because I know I missed several of these updates.

  7. I really appreciate being mentioned on this amazing list! It’s so cool to see how much cash is rolling in. If this doesn’t prove that dividend investing works, I don’t know what does. It’s always interesting to see all the different stages. There’s so much to learn for early stage investors like me. Can’t wait to see everyone’s progress this year!
