Dividend Income from YOU the Bloggers – August 2020

What a month it has been in the stock market!  The tradition, however, continues to march on, as the dividend income from YOU the bloggers article brings in the true F.I.R.E.!  We are all on some form of a Financial Independence journey and we are primarily using dividend income as our main source of passive income to reach financial freedom. The August installment of this article highlights 53 separate journeys and each of their August dividend income summaries.

My Dividend Dynasty – $618.47 – Sporting an incredible $240+ dividend from AT&T (T).  This 7% yielding dividend aristocrat has been a very popular dividend stock in every dividend investor’s portfolio.  In fact, we even have them as one of our 6 dividend stocks to own, on your path to generating $100 in dividend income.  Congrats MDD, really generating a good amount of income!

Money Maaster – $442.75 – Okay, okay.  Not too shabby MM.  I know your dividend income goal is $12k for the year and you may not think you’ll get there.  There is still time, I think you can cross your goal!  Surprise us!

Dividend Portfolio – $9.72 – 5 out of 7 dividend stocks that paid you are dividend aristocrats.  Now  that is impressive!  We are talking Hormel (HRL), AbbVie (ABBV) and others.  Keep at it and you’ll be back to churning mounds of dividends soon.

Reverse the Crush – $36.47 – Such STRONG dividend payers in your stock portfolio.  You have Apple (AAPL), which I have debated if Apple stock is one for a dividend investor’s portfolio.  In addition, you have Royal Bank (RY), which is a nice Canadian Bank!  Keep it up!

A Frugal Family’s Journey – $281.08 – Amazing how far that Vodafone (VOD) dividend has come, one that I used to look at 10+ years ago.  You’ve been very consistent and can’t wait to see your income stream grow!

Dividend Dozer – $104.65 – Ah.. you own Lowes (LOW)!  A company that has done significantly well during this global pandemic.  A dividend beast, for sure.  Congrats on the triple digit month!

Dividend Pig – $1,540.09 – I see that you own Texas Instruments (TXN) and I need to say congratulations to you.  Why?  Texas Instruments increased their dividend by 13%+!  That is HUGE, especially during the COVID-19 time period.  Making dividend investors jealous over here!

Broke Investor – $46.60 – I am pumped to see that heavy dividend from CVS Pharmacy (CVS).  I am a big shareholder, as well, and am looking forward to that deal with Aetna to get better each quarter.  I foresee them going back to dividend growth in the 4th Quarter 2021.  You heard it here first!

Wallet Squirrel – $62.85 – Still rolling in those dividends.  The blog and page look great, too, by the way.  Plus, you have some strong big dividend payers, including Verizon (VZ).

Passive Canadian Income – $313.33 – Even though dividend income was slightly lower than the previous year, you’ll be back in the saddle in 2021.  Love that solar income and that your private placement is steady, as always.  Congrats PCI!

Dividend Gremlin – $361.75 –  Gremlin’s dividend income continues to grow. Gremlin continues to invest as well, adding to 7 positions during the month. That will make sure that your income continues its growth rate!

Passive Income Pursuit – $554.22 –  JC’s dividend income was fantastic in August. Here was a cool stat from his article. JC had 6 companies pay him over $50 in dividends during the month.

Divhut – $1,058.21 – Despite the slight decrease compared to last year, Keith was able to post four digit dividend income in the month of August. That is how you take care of business in an “off month.”

Legend of Income – $161.46 – Over 20 companies and funds paid Legend of Income a dividend during August. That’s how you diversify your investments and dividend income right there!

Forward Dividends – $505.93 –  Forward Dividends received one heck of a dividend from Abbott Laboratories this month. That $398 dividned accounted for 79% of FD’s dividend income! Gotta love the distribution from the Dividend Aristocrat.

Engineering Dividends – $829.14 – Posting a 10% dividend growth rate is HUGE ED. The best part of the post is how ED shows that dividend reinvestment added $27 in additional dividend income to the portfolio. Those are some serious gains.

Get Rich Brothers – $86.94 – Ryan’s dividend growth story continues with another strong month. He continues to invest in high quality dividend growth stocks, and featured two great August purchases in his monthly summary.

A Dividend Dream! – $121 – This was a nice, consistent month that shows the power of dividend investing. ADD didn’t receive any dividends from new companies. Rather, the change was due solely to dividend increases and dividend reinvestment.

Dividend Quest – $655.53 – Quest’s dividend income for the month was lead by Omega Healthcare. OHI has been a darling of the dividend investing community over the years. Many bloggers have purchased shares (except for us).

DesiDividend – $502.86 –  Desi had a nice curveball here. Apple paid Desi $82 in dividends this month, which was by far the largest dividend payer. That is one heck of a position in the low yielding, technology giant!

Dividend Cultivator – $1,596.75 –  Wow. Now that is a serious month of dividend income right there Cultivator. Fantastic job building your own passive income stream! It is crazy that you only received dividends from 10 companies as well!

More Money Guru – $1,901.82 – As you said it – this is the calm before the storm.  September, the quarter-end, awaits.  Still, CRUSHING almost $2,000 in an “off-month” is spectacular.  Very inspirational!

Our Life Financial – $1368.68 – An INCREDIBLE 27% growth.  I love that you own Bank of Montreal (BMO).  Just enjoying straight dividend increases.  Great job and keep at it OLF!

Dividend Brothers – $20.53 – Every month doesn’t have to be a home run, trust me, I would know.  You start somewhere and your portfolio will surely be growing, that’s for sure.  In addition, you have Realty Income (O) that just sent out a dividend increase – congrats!  Keep the investments going.

Dividend Hawk – $1,048.48 – I hear you on the dividend cuts.  WestRock (WRK) was also experienced on this end.  I look forward to WestRock bringing their dividend back, as I feel like their performance warrants it.  Cheers and we’ll be back to normal soon Hawk!

My Road to Wealth and Freedom – $1,785.93 – WOW!  A ton of passive income right there.  Further, your net worth is crushing over $1 million.  I see you love your bank stocks – both US and Canadian.  Hope they all get back to dividend increasing ways soon!

Divcome – $361.40 – Always fun to see General Mills (GIS) stock mixed in there.  They’ve been doing very well during the global pandemic.  I wonder when they’ll resume dividend increases, since they have been on hold for a few years.  Further, Caterpillar (CAT) has been interesting to me, since many projects have been delayed or cancelled.  Keep it going Divcome, you’ve got this!

Dividend Swan – $152.87 – WOW!  20+ companies bringing you over $150, so awesome.  I see you collect dividends from Starbucks (SBUX).  I would love and welcome a steep pull back on their stock price.  Once lobbies/dine in is available, they will be back roaring as ever.  Cannot wait for that to happen and for dividend increases to come with it!

Time in the Market – $249.72 – We know September is around the corner.  I have a strong feeling that your payouts being lower than prior year have come to an end.  You will be on the up and up and your passive income stream will be better and stronger than ever.  Excited to see your dividend income grow!  Remember – it’s Time IN the market vs. Timing the market that wins!

Dividend and Hobbies – $568.19 – D&H is firing on all cylanders here. The portfolio continues to grow, crossing $200,000 in August, along with the dividend income. Excellent stuff!

All About the Dividends – $437.33 –  Matthew’s dividend income saw a 18% decrease compared to last year.  The decrease was due predomnately to selling positions and rebalancing the portfolio, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing!

DGI for the DIY – $201.92 –  The dividend income continues to roll in for DGI, staying above the $200 mark again in August. Without that large Cracker Barrell dividend cut, you would have crushed it this month!

Chicken Wizard – $960.26 –  30 different companies helped put Chicken Wizard on the cusp of joining the four digit club in August. From DRIP alone, and maybe a few dividend increases, you should easily get there in November!

Investing Pursuits – $273.48 –  The dividends continue to roll in. IP posted a very solid double digit percent increase compared to last year. Moves continue to be made!

Dividend Income Stocks – $406.10 –  Crossing the $400 mark is HUGE. Fantastic job right there Dividend Income Stocks.  All of this growth was recorded with the dividend cuts you received. That is some true resiliency right there.

Dividend Driven – $657.16 –  The visualizations on your website are great!  It gives a truly comprehensive view of Driven’s current dividend income, portfolio, and portfolio weighting. Love it!

Dividend Growth Journey – $469.71 – After crossing $500 in July, DGJ almost hit that mark once against in August. T and UNM accounted for 49.5% of DGJ’s monthly dividend income. That is one heck of a AT&T payment. Still, you continue to push your dividend income to new heights and your tech investments will soon start to pay off.

Dividend Seedling – $46.23 – The dividend seeds continue to be planted for Seedling. From a few dollars and cents to $46 in dividend income, your hard work is really starting to pay off. Your blog’s name is the perfect analogy for dividend investing!

The Dividend Guy Blog – $356.16 – Mike’s dividend portfolio had a nice rebalancing after reducing exposure to Apple. The rebalancing may have caused stagnent dividend income this month. However, it will better position you for years to come! That’s what it is all about.

More Dividends – $96.11 – More Dividends has received, you guessed it, MORE DIVIDENDS in August. In fact, MD’s dividend growth rate compared to last year was insane.  I love seeing the growth in your AT&T dividend as well. A personal favorite lately here (Bert)

Stalflare – 989 (Euro) – Oh man, another, “almost”, 4-digit month for you!  I understand that things in Italy are still very difficult and I hope things get better and business returns to normal there.  My wife and I are SO lucky to have gone last September.  Our phone keeps reminding us of our trip to Italy and it makes us happy and sad at the same time!

Tawcan – $1,802.33 – 22 companies.  Almost $2,000.  Now that is stock portfolio diversification, to say the least.  Tawcan this may be your lowest month, but wow, this would be an incredible month for most!  You’ll be back in positive territory next month.

Capturando Dividendos – $779.52 – Whoa, whoa, whoa! Nice job here and coming in heavy with positive cash flow here in August.  I love that we share General Dynamics (GD).  Cannot wait to own this dividend aristocrat for years to come!

Financially Free in 10 Years – 106.53 (Euro) – I definitely understand the stresses at work.  During time periods such as this, uncertainty is high, you’re expected to do more with less, always.  Keep your head up and create income to not need that 9-5! Also, your dividend stock portfolio holds many great names, a portfolio that will generate dividends for years to come!

Root of Good – $353 –  Dividend income accounts for a small portion of Root of Good’s total income. This is a great update of all the income ROG receives. Keep the cash flow rolling!

Kody’s Dividend – $91.19 – Sit down when you read this. Kody’s dividend income grew 86.4% from last year. That is a great dividend growth rate right there! Kody’s dividedn income continues to climb. Now, let’s cross $100 in November. You can do it!

Engineer My Freedom – $90.79 –  Here is another strong dividend growth rate! Engineer My Freedom’s dividend growth. The largest contriibutor to this dividend increase was…you guessed it….AT&T (T).  It seems like 95% of the bloggers this month have received an AT&T payout.

Mr. Tako Escapes – $3.38 –  Mr. Tako’s dividend income takes a breather in the second month of the quarter. The feature show will be September. Mr. Tako collected $14,453 in dividend income June. Let’s see this total blow past $15,000!

My Financial Shape – $799 – A very SOLID amount of dividend income right there.  It will get better, I have a great feeling.  I am curious why Heineken cancelled their dividend for the time being?  Such a great product/brand portfolio – but maybe their restaurant sales took a huge hit/chunk out of their performance.  Cheers to better times ahead!

Dividend Earner – $2,554 – WOW!  Setting a huge milestone in front of us dividend bloggers.  That’s huge D.E.!  Furthermore, I do agree – I think additional stock opportunities will be there ahead of us.  Be ready when the dividend stock opportunities are there.

Journey to Total Freedom – $290.69 –  JTF is semi-retired and living off the dividend and other income! Love reading these stories and the motivation they bring.

Simple Dividend Growth – $2,111 –  This is how you enter the dividend income article in style. SDG posted over $2,000 of dividend income in August. Those are some FANTASTIC results, despite the YOY decrease.

Divs4Jesus – $425.27 – D4J posted a SICK growth rate compared to last year. In August 2019, D4J earned $72.91 in dividend income. That results in a 483% increase compared to last year.

Total:  53 Bloggers Received $31,424 in Dividends in August (depending on the exchange rate used at the time of the calculation).

The community averaged $600 in dividend income this month!  Remember everyone, August is supposed to be an “off” month. Clearly, the dividend investing community did not take this month off.  We mean it everyone. Excellent job in August!!

  1. I’m looking forward to see what September brings too. I know we’ve had lots of dividend cuts in certain sectors which will impact the ETF/index fund payouts but hey, it’s only a temporary stall until growth can resume. I’m thankful we can still invest in this time and can reap the rewards for re-investment through dividends too.

It’s great to see over 30k from the community in August and I can’t wait to see what September ends up at!

    • Time –

September is going to be a BANG to the income community.

Even with the cuts, we are still churning, that’s for sure. Further, because we are dividend investors – though we suffered cuts, we still are enjoying dividend increases.

      Let’s make it happen!

      -Lanny

  10. Hey Lanny and Bert
It’s always great to see passive income flowing in, and even in turbulent and tough times, dividend investors can build on a very solid financial basis. Several of us, me included, are seeing some dividend cuts, but better times are ahead.
