We are back once again to discuss our recent dividend stock purchases. The two of us are always looking for undervalued dividend stocks to purchase. The market was particularly exciting towards the end of October and presented us with some GREAT dividend stocks to buy. Let’s review our recent dividend stock purchases!
The companies we purchased were strong dividend growth stocks. Several of the companies are Dividend Aristocrats (25+ years of consecutive dividend increases). Others are working their way towards the coveted Aristocrat title. After receiving too many dividend cuts from the pandemic, our goal is to focus on high quality dividend stocks to see our passive income grow. We think we achieved this with our last round of stock purchases.
What caused these great dividend stocks (and dividend ETF) to decline? Coronavirus cases continue to climb, as we may be potentially entering the second wave of the virus. The new cases caused shockwaves throughout the market, as companies race to develop the vaccine. Further, the purchases were made prior to the presidential election. Therefore, stock prices were fluctuating with the daily election news.
We purchased each of these stocks after running the company through the famous Dividend Diplomats Dividend Stock Screener. This is the simple, 3 step stock screener that we use to identify all of our investment opportunities. The 3 stock metrics are:
- Price to Earnings Ratio Less than S&P 500
- Dividend Payout Ratio Less than 60%
- Dividend Growth History & Dividend Growth Rate.
The name of the game is purchasing high quality dividend stocks to increase our passive income. By using our stock screener, and taking advantage of the twists and turns of the stock market, we were able to achieve that. In total, we added over $3,100 to our combined portfolios and over $120 in forward dividend income.
